Recovery Through Art
Recovery Through Art is Keystone Development Trust’s well-being group, combating loneliness and isolation through art. It encourages its members to try new things, get more creative and learn new skills while socialising in a supportive environment.
Feedback from Sarah, a regular participant:
‘It helps me because it gets me out of the house and then to get to meet new people, which I find hard. Also, I love art, I love that we get to try different things in the group, and there is always something different to do every week, you can’t ever know what a difference this project makes to my life’.
Activities are informed by what the participants would like to do and include printmaking, sculpture, textiles and painting.
Its success is partly based on the relationships it has developed with local substance misuse service providers and other local partners and providers. Collaborations include working with Farrans Construction to create four hoarding boards based on Thetford’s history for the new riverside development.
We support participants to take the next step out into the community, for example through voluntary or paid employment.
Participants can drop in on sessions at the Abbey Neighbourhood Centre between 10:30 and 2pm on a Tuesday. If you or someone you know would like to come along please contact us by email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01842 821643.
The Project since 2015 has been funded by the following organisations:-
